Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the VITA Series and the Flex Series?

The VITA Series is a video-only wireless link that sends HD video from camera to monitor or gallery. The Flex Series carries HD video together with Sony camera control and/or IP data on one link. VITA systems start at £2,999 excluding tax. Flex systems start at £6,800. Choose VITA when you only need the picture, and Flex when the shading engineer or data workflow needs the link too.

What is the difference between the VITA Lite and VITA Pro systems?

The VITA Lite System (£2,999 excluding tax) is a compact link with HDMI or HD-SDI, embedded audio, metadata and up to 200 m range. The VITA Pro System (£4,900 excluding tax) is a professional 5 GHz system with sub-millisecond latency, up to 600 m range and dual HD-SDI outputs plus HDMI at the receiver. Both run from 7.5–36 V.

What range can I expect from a VITA system, and what affects it?

The VITA Lite System is rated up to 200 m and the VITA Pro System up to 600 m. These are maximum figures. Real range depends on line of sight, obstructions, antenna position and RF congestion on 5 GHz. For a stadium, arena or OB compound, contact Wavetek with your venue details and we will recommend a system.

How much latency do VITA systems add?

The VITA Pro System, VITA Transmitter and VITA Lite Receiver are specified at below 1 ms of latency. This keeps the picture in step with the action for operators, focus pullers and directors watching a live feed.

What signals, audio and power do VITA systems support?

VITA works with sources that output HD-SDI or HDMI. The transmitter provides an HD-SDI loop, and the receivers output HD-SDI and/or HDMI. Audio is embedded, the transmitter and Lite Receiver support timecode and trigger, and the Lite System adds metadata. The Lite and Pro Systems run from 7.5–36 V and operate from -5°C to +40°C.

How much does a VITA system cost, and how do I buy one?

Prices exclude tax: VITA Lite Receiver £2,100, VITA Transmitter £2,200, VITA Lite System £2,999 and VITA Pro System £4,900. Buy direct from Wavetek online or by inquiry. Engineer support includes a 24/7 technical line for customers on air. Call +44 (0)7500 071 075 or email info@wavetek.tv for a tailored quote.
